Description
Chinese Red Tea is a fully-oxidised tea.
There are 3 main types of red tea:
1)Gong Fu Red Tea: there are more than 10 different Gong Fu Red Tea in China. We normally named them by their area.
2)Souchong Red Tea: small leaves and mainly indicates red tea from Wuyi Mt.
3)Broken leaves: mainly for commercial use to blend flavoured teas.
The name is very special in the local accent which is also called “ Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong”, it is the first red tea that was exported in 1610. The original Lapsan Souchong is from TongMuGuan at Wuyi Mt. in the Fujian Province, it uses pine wood to smoke the tea leaves during the process. Now the heavy smoky Lapsansouchong is mainly for the overseas market, Chinese tea farmers improved it to be light and smoky but more sweet aftertaste to match the Chinese tea market.
