Ancient (1000+years) Hybrid Single Tree Raw Puerh 北宋古木-单株茶-生普洱

Price range: $80.00 through $500.00

From the mountains of Baiying Shan in Lincang, Yunnan, this exceptional puerh is crafted from the leaves of a single ancient hybrid tea tree more than 1,000 years old. Formed through the natural pollination of wild and cultivated tea trees over many generations, each tree represents a unique expression of nature’s long evolution.

These trees first took root during China’s Northern Song Dynasty, an era renowned for its refined culture, scholarship, and appreciation of tea. It was a time when tea evolved beyond everyday consumption into an art form, inspiring literature, aesthetics, and the celebrated traditions of Song tea culture.

Over more than a thousand years of uninterrupted growth, this individual tree has continued to thrive within Baiying Shan’s diverse mountain ecosystem. The quiet interaction between wild vitality and cultivated heritage has produced a lineage of remarkable balance, resilience, and character.

The tea is elegant and composed, offering refined structure, gentle sweetness, and lasting depth. Rather than revealing everything at once, its character unfolds patiently through successive infusions.

A living witness to the Northern Song Dynasty, this single tree preserves over a millennium of uninterrupted growth, expressing the enduring dialogue between nature, time, and tea culture.

Description

Ancient (1000+years) Hybrid Single Tree Raw Puerh

  • Leaf: Dark green leaves with a natural sheen, showing little bud and a number of slender stems. The leaves resist tight rolling, preserving their broad form and remarkable resilience. Once infused, they unfold into a vivid green, displaying the vitality of an ancient mountain tree.
  • Liquor: Bright, clear light pale yellow-green.
  • Aroma: The dry leaves are elegant and understated, with gentle sweetness and subtle grassy notes. The aroma lingering in the empty cup is deeper and more layered, carrying lasting floral and fruity nuances.
  • Taste: Exceptionally smooth, with sweetness emerging almost immediately and virtually no bitterness. Compared with the younger tree, the liquor gains greater structure and depth while remaining gentle and refined. A lingering fragrance stays pleasantly on the palate long after each infusion.
  • Infusions: Approximately 12–18 infusions with light brewing, or 8–12 infusions when brewed stronger.
  • Recommended Teaware: Porcelain Gaiwan or Yixing Clay Teapot.
