Ancient (1200+years) Hybrid Single Tree Raw Puerh 盛唐古木-单株茶-生普洱

Price range: $100.00 through $600.00

From the mountains of Baiying Shan in Lincang, Yunnan, this distinctive puerh is crafted from the leaves of a single ancient hybrid tea tree more than 1,200 years old. Formed through the natural pollination of wild and cultivated tea trees over many generations, each tree reflects a unique expression of nature’s long evolution.

These trees first took root during China’s High Tang Dynasty, one of the great golden ages of Chinese civilisation. During this period, tea culture flourished throughout the empire, and Japanese monks travelled to China to study Buddhism, literature, and the art of tea. While these cultural exchanges were taking place, this tree was already quietly growing in the mountains of Baiying Shan.

Over more than twelve centuries of uninterrupted growth, this individual tree has continued to thrive within its diverse mountain ecosystem. The natural interaction between wild vitality and cultivated heritage has produced a lineage of remarkable harmony, resilience, and depth.

The tea is refined and balanced, offering clarity, gentle sweetness, and quiet complexity. Rather than revealing everything at once, its character unfolds gradually through successive infusions.

A living witness to the High Tang Dynasty, this single tree preserves over twelve centuries of uninterrupted growth, expressing the enduring dialogue between nature, time, and the shared tea traditions of East Asia.

Even after careful rolling, the leaves retain their broad shape, reflecting the remarkable toughness and wild vitality inherited through centuries of natural evolution. • Liquor: Bright, clear and light pale yellow-green.
  • Aroma: The dry leaves are delicate and naturally sweet with subtle grassy notes. The aroma lingering in the empty cup is rich, profound, and remarkably persistent, revealing elegant floral and fruity complexity.
  • Taste: Silky and composed from the first sip, with virtually no bitterness. Sweetness emerges effortlessly, supported by impressive depth, texture, and lasting energy. The fragrance fills the mouth and lingers gracefully, leaving a long, refined finish that continues well after the tea has been swallowed.
  • Infusions: Approximately 12–20 infusions with light brewing, or 8–15 infusions when brewed stronger.
  • Recommended Teaware: Porcelain Gaiwan or Yixing Clay Teapot.
